Longitudinal Trajectory of a Cognitive Composite Score in Normal Cognition and Lead Investigator: Mike Malek-Ahmadi Institution : Banner Alzheimer's Institute E-Mail : michael.ahmadi@bannerhealth.com Proposal ID : 584 Proposal Description: 1. The primary goal of this study is to characterize the trajectory of a cognitive composite score among cognitively normal individuals who remain stable over time and with those who convert to amnestic mild cognitive impairment. In addition, we will stratify the group APOE e4 carrier status (homozygote, heterozygote, non-carrier). These analyses will be used to determine the inclusion criteria and sample size for an Alzheimer's disease prevention trial. 2. We will be determining the optimal age range to enroll individuals in AD prevention trials based on their APOE e4 carrier status by examining the trajectory of decline in a cognitive composite score. This information is essential to the execution of an AD prevention trial and could eventually serve as a methodological model for other AD prevention trials to use.
